Members of Moldova’s prime minister’s control corps resigned on Wednesday after the government said they no longer enjoyed the trust needed to carry out their duties, Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu announced at a Cabinet meeting.

Munteanu said the decision followed recent evaluations and information analysis, without giving specific details on the reasons behind the move.

“Following evaluations and information analysed in recent period, we concluded that the activity of the control corps no longer benefits from the necessary trust to exercise this function. I announce that the members of the control corps have effectively submitted their resignations this morning,” Munteanu said.

He stressed that public office requires integrity and professionalism, adding that the government would not tolerate violations of these standards.

“When the necessary trust for exercising a function is lost, the correct decision is to make changes. That is what we are doing, because we are talking about professionalism and integrity as the foundation of our work. I have zero tolerance for their violation,” he added.

According to the government website, the control corps included Vasile Bolduratu and Angela Roscov-Ciofu.
