As the Republic of Moldova prepares for the September 28, 2025, parliamentary elections, TikTok has announced new measures to protect the integrity of the electoral process and to combat disinformation.

Between July 1 and September 9, the company removed 4,519 pieces of content that violated rules on civic and electoral integrity, disinformation, or AI-generated content. More than 96.5% of these were taken down before users could report them.

TikTok also prevented over 2.2 million fake likes, 1.4 million fake follow requests, and blocked the creation of more than 250,000 spam accounts. Additionally, the platform deleted over 100,000 fake accounts, along with 1.3 million fake likes and 1.6 million fake followers, according to TikTok representatives in Moldova.

In August and September, the company dismantled four covert influence operations with political content targeting Moldovan audiences, bringing the total number of networks removed in 2025 to seven.

Alongside these measures, TikTok launched an Election Center in August, developed in partnership with the Central Electoral Commission of Moldova and the Stop Fals! organization, to provide users with reliable voting information and media literacy resources.

Recently, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Daniella Misail-Nichitin, stated during the show “Rezoomat” on Rlive TV that TikTok and Telegram ignore the authorities’ requests to block false content.
