Tiraspol blocks the participation of Promo-LEX representatives in the working group for education, which consists of experts from both banks of the Nistru. The meeting, which was supposed to address several issues regarding the militarization of educational institutions in the separatist region, did not happen after Tiraspol categorically refused to allow it in the presence of Promo-LEX representative lawyer Vadim Vieru.
During the meeting, the lawyer from Promo-LEX was to present several findings and proposals regarding the militarization of educational institutions in the region, including:
• Forcing minors to enroll and later join paramilitary structures;
• Using the education system as a tool for propaganda and political indoctrination;
• The lack of protection mechanisms for students and their families in the context of exposure to militarist practices;
• The need for stricter control and international monitoring to prevent child abuse and blatant human rights violations.
“However, the Tiraspol administration categorically refused to continue the meeting in the presence of the Promo-LEX representative, resorting to unfounded excuses, indicating a clear lack of genuine willingness to address the issues raised. This approach violates fundamental human rights principles and undermines efforts for constructive dialogue on education and child protection,” said Promo-LEX in a press release.
