Schools in Moldova’s Transnistrian region will begin each school week with the raising of the region’s so-called “state flag” and the performance of its so-called “state anthem” starting September 1. Moldova’s constitutional authorities do not recognize either symbol.

The decision was issued by the so-called Education Ministry in Tiraspol and signed on July 31, 2026.

Students, representatives of student and parent councils, teachers and school administrators will be able to attend the ceremony. On state holidays, schools may also invite guests to participate.

Each school will form a flag-bearing group from among students who have achieved outstanding results in academics, sports, creative activities or areas of public interest. These students will be entrusted with carrying and raising the region’s so-called “State Flag.”

At the end of each school week, following the final lesson, schools will hold a ceremony to lower the flag.
