“We have a similar view of the importance of robust financial and technical support. We will continue to be firm and steadfast with Chisinau, especially since the Republic of Moldova is subject to attempts to undermine the constitutional order. The President, the Government and the Parliament acted responsibly, efficiently and decisively, in order to separate the Republic of Moldova from the permanent dependence in which it was captivating.

Romania will always be with the Republic of Moldova and we are united at the EU level in giving it all the necessary support, including for strengthening resilience.Romania will always be with the Republic of Moldova and we are united at the EU level in giving it all the necessary support, including for strengthening resilience”, the Romanian president said.

Moldovan President Maia Sandu thanked the leaders of Germany and Romania for their support. She stressed that the country’s leadership will continue to make efforts to join the European Union.

“We will continue to ensure our country’s energy independence and connect to the European transport infrastructure, and Romania and Germany are important development partners for us to achieve these goals. You support us in the process of transforming the country.

The emergency budget support, offered by Bucharest and Berlin last winter, allowed us to be with the most vulnerable citizens during the winter months”, said Maia Sandu.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz confirmed that he will take part in the Summit of the European Political Community, which will be held in Chisinau on June 1.

“The main thing in our discussions was the difficult situation in which the Republic of Moldova found itself. Moldova is part of the European family. I applaud how decisively Moldova has approached the reforms necessary for EU accession. Moldova can be sure of our support. We read with dismay reports of Russian attempts to destabilize the Republic of Moldova. We support Moldova with everything we can, so that it can defend itself”, said Olaf Scholz.

Scholz, Iohannis and Sandu held a trilateral meeting in Bucharest on Monday. The key topics were the protection of the Republic of Moldova from destabilization, the support our country needs, and the situation in Ukraine.
