Twenty-two Public Hospitals in Moldova Receive Electric Generators Donated by the United States Government

Twenty-two public hospitals in the Republic of Moldova have received electric generators procured by the Government of the United States through the U.S. Agency for International Development’s project, “Energy Security of the Republic of Moldova.” The official handover event took place on Thursday, June 22, at the Republican Clinical Hospital “Timofei Mosneaga,” one of the beneficiary institutions.

The generators, with a total capacity of 2045 kW, have been distributed to ten district hospitals, eleven republican institutions, and one municipal hospital. Among the recipients are the Republican Clinical Hospital “Timofei Mosneaga,” the Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery “Diomid Gherman,” the Institute of Emergency Medicine, the Institute of Cardiology, the Clinical Hospital of Traumatology and Orthopedics, the Republican Dispensary of Narcology, the Republican Rehabilitation Center for Children, the BălÈ›i Clinical Hospital, the Temporary Placement and Rehabilitation Center for Children in BălÈ›i, as well as the psychiatric hospitals in Chisinau and BălÈ›i.

Furthermore, the district hospitals in Ungheni, Ștefan Vodă, Sângerei, Edineț, Rezina, Leova, Drochia, Telenești, Comrat, Basarabeasca, and the Municipal Clinical Hospital No. 4 in Chisinau have also received generators.

The total value of the electric generators is $710,000.

During the event, Minister of Health Ala Nemerenco declared that thanks to these generators donated by the United States, medical institutions will be prepared to provide uninterrupted access to medical services for patients in case of power outages.

It is worth mentioning that since March 2022, medical institutions in the Republic of Moldova have been equipped with a total of 105 electric generators.

This generous donation from the United States Government will significantly enhance the resilience of Moldova’s healthcare system, ensuring that critical medical services can continue to be provided even during power disruptions. The electric generators will contribute to maintaining a stable power supply for essential medical equipment, guaranteeing the well-being of patients and enabling healthcare professionals to perform their duties effectively.
