Ukraine is strengthening its border in the southwest of the country near the Transnistrian region, according to a press release from the Operational Command “West.”

The command stated that “lessons learned from repelling Russian aggression in the northern and eastern directions show that the army must prepare for any scenario.”

Commander Volodymyr Shvediuk visited units in the region and met with field commanders to assess troop readiness, equipment levels, and the need to develop defensive infrastructure, including fortifications, military roads, and strategic access routes.

The authorities placed particular emphasis on strengthening defense capabilities and improving troop mobility and logistics in order to create a multi-layered protection system capable of responding quickly to potential threats or hostile actions. They also stressed the importance of cooperation between military and civilian structures.

Military personnel work with local communities and farmers in the area, and they continuously monitor mined fields to ensure that seasonal agricultural work can proceed safely. In wartime conditions, they consider compliance with safety rules and coordination with the local population essential.
