UNHCR and the Ministry of Culture in Moldova Join Hands to Promote Cultural Exchange and Inclusion

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Moldova, in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, is set to implement joint initiatives and programs aimed at facilitating multicultural exchange between refugees, host communities, and cultural institutions. Yesterday, both parties signed a memorandum of understanding to formalize their commitment to this endeavor, as reported by MOLDPRES.

The memorandum outlines plans for organizing cultural events, exhibitions, workshops, and educational activities that promote intercultural dialogue and understanding.

Sergiu Prodan, the Minister of Culture, emphasized that providing platforms for cultural expression and interaction seeks to encourage social cohesion and mutual respect.

“The memorandum reflects our joint commitment to collaborate in promoting a more inclusive and culturally diverse society, where refugees and asylum seekers are provided with opportunities for cultural participation, integration, and social inclusion,” stated Francesca Bonelli, the UNHCR Representative in Moldova.

In addition to the planned activities, UNHCR and the Ministry of Culture will collaborate to identify a “Goodwill Ambassador” who will unite efforts in addressing the challenges faced by refugees, asylum seekers, and other beneficiaries.
