An unidentified drone entered and flew through the southern airspace of the Republic of Moldova on Monday morning, August 24, the Ministry of Defense reported.
According to the ministry, airspace monitoring systems detected the drone entering Moldova’s national airspace from the direction of Ukraine after crossing the state border.
The drone entered Moldovan airspace at 5:55 a.m., flying from the direction of Vinogradovka, Odesa region, toward the city of Vulcanesti, Gagauzia.
At 6:09 a.m., the drone was detected leaving Moldova’s airspace from the direction of Pascani, Cahul district, heading toward Romania, near Vadesti, Vrancea County.
The unauthorized flight occurred amid Russian air attacks on Ukraine overnight, the Ministry of Defense said.
As a precautionary measure, Moldova temporarily restricted airspace in the southern part of the country for approximately 15 minutes, after which it was reopened.
National authorities, together with international partners, continue to monitor Moldova’s airspace to ensure public safety.
