USAID Provides $76.8 Million in Direct Budget Support to Moldova for Electricity Costs

USAID provided $76.8 million as direct budget support to the Government of the Republic of Moldova. These funds, transferred through the World Bank, will be used to cover the record electricity costs during the winter of 2022-2023.

USAID will cooperate with its partners to ensure the monitoring of budgetary assistance, aiming to guarantee transparency in all cost reimbursement processes.

In addition to this assistance, the United States has provided support to Moldova in responding to the economic, energy, security, and humanitarian impact caused by Putin’s war against Ukraine, while also advancing the agenda of economic and democratic reforms.
