President Maia Sandu delivered a special message to the Moldovan diaspora on parliamentary election day, stressing that Moldova cannot exist without its citizens abroad. She underlined that every vote cast on September 28 was essential, IPN reported.
“Dear diaspora, through an honest vote, you chose the European path, and through an honest vote, you gave me the trust to walk this path together. I urge you, through an honest vote, not to let others steal our future, to guard Moldova,” Sandu said in a video message.
The president encouraged Moldovans abroad to help preserve a fair and peaceful country. She warned that in the current regional and global context, Moldova risked being lost if it was not defended.

“Russia is not our friend. It attacked a neighboring country for no reason, it cut off our gas, it threatens us, and it wants to buy our votes and our country. Its plans can only be stopped by the honest vote of Moldovans from everywhere—from villages in Moldova to cities across Europe,” Sandu declared.
By 1:30 p.m., more than 103,000 diaspora voters had cast their ballots.
