There will be no vote on amending the Constitution in Parliament and the referendum results automatically become law, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Doina Gherman said in the Rezoomat program on Rlive TV.
“There will be no need for a vote in parliament because that is what a constitutional republican referendum is about. It is about a vote of the people and above any bill passed in parliament. Therefore, the referendum results automatically become law,” said Doina Gherman.
The referendum on Moldova’s accession to the EU may be held on October 20, 2024. The Action and Solidarity Party’s (PAS) deputies have notified the Constitutional Court (CC) about the initiative to amend the Constitution.
