Reinvent Moldova 2.0 brings to the forefront the need for deep societal transformation in the context of modernizing the Republic of Moldova and advancing its European path. Dumitru Tira and Sergiu Toader discussed the topic during the TV show “Realitatea te priveste.”

Dumitru Tira explained the concept behind the initiative and emphasized the need for collective mobilization.

“Reinvent Moldova 2.0 is about reinventing ourselves as a society to contribute to Moldova’s modernization. We have sensed a certain fatigue in society—both in everyday work and civic engagement. This initiative invites people to act: to do good, to modernize Moldova, to democratize it, and to reinvent ourselves as a society. The European path itself means transformation—modernizing not just institutions, but society as a whole. It also involves cohesion, diligence, and honesty in our relationship with the state. The ‘2.0’ concept reflects renewal—not a call for revolution, but a call to imagine the country we want and build it together,” said Tira.

Sergiu Toader highlighted the importance of grassroots initiatives.

“What I find particularly important is that this event is not sponsored by Brussels, not by the Moldovan government, nor by anyone else. On the contrary, your group and Mr. Tira launched it as a private initiative. This shows that part of society does not wait for integration to happen—it moves toward that goal itself. In my opinion, that will bring prosperity,” Toader noted.

In the same context, Dumitru Tira referred to the participation of European officials, including Charles Michel, and highlighted their role in Moldova’s European integration process.

“I felt honored to have Mr. Charles Michel at our event. He played a decisive role in negotiating Moldova’s candidate status—something that, just two weeks before the decision, seemed far from certain,” he said.

Tira also called for confidence and dignity in recognizing the country’s potential.

“I believe we have many reasons to stand tall—with dignity—because we are educated people capable of achieving extraordinary things. In some areas, we may even lead at the European level. That is why we must move forward,” he added.

Sergiu Toader concluded by emphasizing the importance of building a modern state that meets citizens’ needs.

“In practice, a modern state must ensure two fundamental things for its citizens: prosperity and security,” he said.

Reinvent Moldova 2.0 serves as a platform for dialogue and civic mobilization, encouraging society to take an active role in the country’s modernization and European integration.
