Minister of Defense Anatolie Nosatii informed the press that the drone that crashed in Tudora carried more than 40 kilograms of explosives.
He stated that the Republic of Moldova will continue cooperating with neighboring countries on early warning systems. At the same time, Nosatii emphasized that such incidents violate the country’s sovereignty and neutrality.
Nosatii said, “The Republic of Moldova must invest in developing its national air defense system to monitor and destroy objects that endanger the lives and health of citizens.”
Authorities observed a Shahed-type drone flying over southern Republic of Moldova at an altitude of about 150 meters during the night from Monday to Tuesday. They later located the aircraft in Tudora, near the border line.
Bomb disposal experts performed a controlled explosion at the site, and authorities evacuated the local population for the duration of the operation.
