Moldova’s Parliamentary Economy, Budget and Finance Committee has been without a chairperson for approximately a month.

The position was previously held by MP Radu Marian, who stepped down following the scandal surrounding the state air navigation service provider MoldATSA.

After Marian, the position was taken over by MP Victoria Belous. Shortly afterward, however, Belous joined Prime Minister Vasile Tofan’s Cabinet, taking over as Minister of Finance.

Representatives of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) told Realitatea that a decision on the committee’s new chairperson is expected to be made within the next few weeks. The name of the potential candidate is currently being kept confidential.

Parliamentary deputies have also commented on who could take over the position and what they expect from the future head of the Economy Committee.
