Russian propaganda narratives will not influence the referendum results on European integration, says former Defense Minister Anatol Salaru. According to his statement on RLIVE TV, although pro-Moscow actors consider the fears of Moldova’s population, people have already drawn their conclusions.
The former defense minister explained that the Moldovan president cannot declare war or send troops to Transnistria, as such decisions are within the competence of the parliament. At the same time, Salaru is confident that a good part of the population will reconfirm its support for Moldova’s European course on October 20.
“I don’t think so because the waters have parted, and those who sit at the village bar non-stop have their candidate. The vast majority understands that we, with five or six thousand militiamen, can only defend ourselves against any possible danger and are not preparing to attack anyone. People have already drawn their conclusions, and there is every chance that this referendum will have a happy outcome and people will reconfirm their attitude towards the European course of the Republic of Moldova”, said Salaru during the program “Realitatea te priveste.”

On October 20, Moldovans will also go to the polls to vote on whether they support Moldova’s European integration. The referendum has become the subject of propaganda among pro-Russian actors and Kremlin officials. Various groups are launching manipulations regarding traditional values, LGBT rights, the number of polling stations in Russia, and potential military risks for our country.
