Voter registration opens! Moldovans in the diaspora can now pre-register to vote in the parliamentary elections

Moldovans living abroad can now register to vote in the parliamentary elections scheduled for September 28, 2025. The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) announced that the online pre-registration system became available on April 22, 2025.

Authorities published the decision to set the election date in the Official Monitor. Under current law, the registration process can begin as Parliament’s decision is published. Voters must complete their registration no later than 45 days before election day.

To register, voters must visit https://inregistrare.cec.md and follow the provided instructions. Moldovans can pre-register for the parliamentary elections until August 14 at 23:59:59.

CEC officials explained that the pre-registration aims to estimate how many Moldovans intend to vote abroad. It will help determine where and how many polling stations to open outside the country. It is one of three criteria outlined in the electoral law, along with data on voter turnout trends in the last three national elections and information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the number and location of Moldovan citizens abroad.

Voters who pre-registered for previous elections and have not changed their location abroad do not need to register again. However, they can cancel their registration and submit a new one.
