Wrestlers Eugen Mihalcean and Ion Demian won bronze medals at the U-23 World Championships

The national wrestling team won two more medals at the U-23 World Championships in Tirana, Albania. Freestyle wrestlers Eugen Mihalcean and Ion Demian won bronze medals.

Eugen Mihalcean defeated the Georgian Vladimir Gamkrelidze (6-5) in the small final of the weight category up to 86 kg, while Ion Demian completed the podium of the prize-winners of the weight category up to 92 kg after he won the bronze medal against the Turkish Fatih Altunbas (8-6).

The national wrestling team won five medals at the world competition reserved for athletes under 23 – three gold medals, two in Greco-Roman one in women’s wrestling, and two bronze medals in freestyle wrestling.

The wrestler Irina Ringaci became the second-year-a-row world champion in women’s wrestling in the under-23 category. Gold medals were also won by Greco-Roman wrestlers Vitalie Eriomenco (63 kg) and Alexandrin Gutu (77 kg).
