The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova, the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History, and the National Center for the Conservation and Promotion of Intangible Cultural Heritage are organizing the National Carpet Fair “Covorul Dorului.”
The event is dedicated to the traditional Romanian culture, specifically to the craft of carpet weaving. This cultural element was inscribed on December 1, 2016, in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, following the joint nomination of this tradition by Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
Additionally, weaving and spinning workshops will be organized, and experienced craftswomen will conduct masterclasses for visitors. Popular craftsman Tatiana Popa from the village of Palanca, CălăraÈ™i district, will introduce attendees to the art of weaving “Covorului în bumbi” (Bubble Carpet). Similarly, popular craftsman Natalia Crudu from the village of Ciobalaccia, Cantemir district, will teach visitors how to weave and spin, added Elena Cojocari.
The 10th edition of the National Carpet Fair “Covorul Dorului” will take place on Sunday, December 17, 2023, from 12:00 to 15:00 at the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History.
