President Maia Sandu has urged Romanian citizens to participate in the elections on December 1 and 8 to choose the Parliament and President of Romania.
“Dear Romanians, on December 1 and 8, we go to the polls again. We are choosing the Romanian Parliament and the President of Romania. I will also vote because I want a Romania that lives in peace, has a strong voice in the world, and offers a high standard of living for all its citizens. My grandparents, who were born in Romania, would surely have voted. The Romanians have the strength and wisdom to defend their place in the world, and this power lies solely in the vote. The Romanian people are free! I urge you to vote for a strong, European Romania, for a free country,” stated Maia Sandu in her message.

It is worth noting that Romania’s parliamentary elections will take place on December 1, 2024, and will determine the structure of the Parliament, comprising the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies. Following these elections, all 136 seats in the Senate and all 330 seats in the Chamber of Deputies will be redistributed among the parties and alliances that surpass the 5% electoral threshold.
The parliamentary and presidential terms are scheduled to conclude by the end of 2024. The authorities scheduled the presidential elections for the same period, with the first round taking place on November 24 and the second round planned for December 8. The election date coincides with Romania’s National Day, commemorating the Great Union.
