Maia Sandu’s Response to Moscow: Russia’s Attack on Ukraine Severely Impacts Our Relationship

In a recent statement, the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, responded to the accusations made by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Sandu emphasized that the relationship between the two countries has suffered greatly due to Russia’s aggression in Ukraine, highlighting that Russia’s actions have led to innocent human casualties and the destruction of Ukrainian cities and villages.

The statement from the President of the Republic of Moldova comes in the context of Russia expressing dissatisfaction with the decision of the authorities in Chișinău to reduce the number of diplomatic and technical-administrative personnel of the Russian Federation in the country. However, Sandu emphasized that the reduction of Russian personnel is in line with the current situation and that the remaining number is sufficient to provide quality services.

“The number of Russian Federation employees remaining in the Republic of Moldova is sufficient to ensure quality services. Nevertheless, we must acknowledge that our relationship with the Russian Federation has suffered dramatically following the attack on Ukraine. The loss of human lives and the massive destruction in Ukraine have generated a significant shift in our bilateral dynamics,” stated Maia Sandu.
