The present head of state, Maia Sandu, stands as the embodiment of trust among the Moldovan populace. Moreover, in the hypothetical scenario of early presidential elections occurring next Sunday, Maia Sandu emerges as the undisputed frontrunner, securing the lion’s share of votes in the initial round. These compelling revelations stem from the latest insights unveiled in the data from the Public Opinion Barometer (BOP), made public yesterday September 4th, courtesy of the esteemed Institute of Public Policy (IPP).
Therefore, if early presidential elections were to be held, Maia Sandu would receive the most votes in the first round, with 29.4%, while Igor Dodon would accumulate just over 18%. The top is followed by the Mayor of Chisinau, Ion Ceban, who would receive 5.6%, and former Mayor of Balti, Renato Usatîi, who would obtain 5.1%.

The survey was conducted based on a sample of 1,200 respondents from 85 localities in the Republic of Moldova, excluding the Transnistrian region. Citizens from the diaspora did not participate in this survey. The maximum sampling error is 3%. Data collection took place in the period of July to August of the current year.
