President Maia Sandu had a meeting with representatives of the Commission for the external evaluation of judges and candidates for the position of judge at the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ). The discussions focused on Moldova’s commitments regarding judicial reform, in the context of joining the European Union and implementing the EU Commission’s recommendations related to the extraordinary external evaluation process.
During the meeting, they discussed the actions taken so far in the field of judicial reform and the challenges encountered in the process of evaluating candidates for the CSJ.
Additionally, they talked about the need to adhere to the agreed schedule with the EU for completing the integrity testing exercise for judges.
The head of state emphasized that this evaluation is crucial – its results will determine whether citizens will regain trust in legal institutions and in the authorities’ efforts to combat corruption.
