Four parliamentary committees, two from Chisinau and two from Bucharest, signed a declaration

The joint declaration signed between the Legal and Foreign Policy Committees of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and the Romanian Senate, adopted after the joint meeting held in Iasi, Romania, on May 20th, expresses the firm determination to continue cooperation and close coordination in areas of competence and mutual interest, including the support of the development of the bilateral agenda and the promotion of cooperation priorities agreed between the two states, in particular on the need to accelerate the process of European integration of the Republic of Moldova.

At the same time, during the joint meeting, the officials expressed their interest in organizing another joint meeting of the two Parliaments in Bucharest and Chisinau.

The event, which took place in hybrid format, with physical and online presence, was attended by the President of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Grosu, the Vice President of the Romanian Senate, Robert Cazanciuc, the Chairs of the Legal Committees of the Parliaments of Chisinau and Bucharest, Olesea Stamate and Laura Iuliana Scântei, the chairmen of the Foreign Policy Committees of the two parliaments, Doina Gherman and Titus Corlățean, the ministers of Justice, Sergiu Litvinenco and Cătălin Predoiu, other officials.

At the beginning of the joint meeting, the President of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Grosu, mentioned that the meeting is a part of a series of events that will send a very clear signal to the political class in Chisinau and Bucharest, but also to the EU, that Moldova deserves and must be part of the European Union.

“We remain consistent with our commitment to European integration. We appreciate the constant help of Romania, which was and, I am sure, will be the main lawyer of the Republic of Moldova in this process, ”said the speaker Igor Grosu.

The chair of the Romanian Parliament’s Committee on Legal Affairs, Appointments, Discipline, Immunities and Validations, Laura-Iuliana Scântei, assured that the Romanian state will continue to constantly and consistently support the Chisinau authorities in meeting the objectives of the European course that the Republic of Moldova and he assumed them so firmly.
