The Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicu Popescu, met with his Czech counterpart Jan Lipavský, writes realitatea.md. The two officials met on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Czech Republic and the promotion of the European integration agenda of our country in the context in which the Czech Republic will hold, in the second half of 2022, the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
“Our goal of joining the EU was a central topic of discussion, exchanging views on the priorities of the Czech Presidency, and telling Minister Jan Lipavský that we are counting on the Czech Republic’s support for European integration as a result of the reform and modernization agenda of the country in accordance with EU standards. Our development efforts are also focused on the continuous attraction of Czech investments in the national economy, as well as the increase of exports on the Czech market “, Popescu wrote on a social media platform.
The two officials discussed the bilateral agenda, including political dialogue, development assistance and boosting trade and economic relations between the two countries. They also addressed the security situation in the region in the context of the war in Ukraine and the socio-economic impact on our country, and the humanitarian assistance provided by the Czech authorities to the Republic of Moldova for the management of the refugee crisis.
The Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova and the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic was also signed during the meeting.
