German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will visit Moldova this summer. He said this at a press conference after a meeting with Moldovan President Maia Sandu in Berlin.
“Moldova has repeatedly demonstrated its resilience, which is admirable. Let me make it clear that Germany continues to stand by it. We will support Moldova to the best of our ability,” Scholz said.
Olaf Scholz reiterated that Germany will support the country in the EU accession process. Against the current security situation, the chancellor praised the reception of Ukrainian refugees and Moldova’s reform program to pave the way to the European Union.
“We are happy to support you on this path. And, of course, I am happy for further cooperation, and I am glad to visit Moldova’s capital Chisinau this summer,” Scholz said.
We shall remind you that during her working visit to Berlin, Maia Sandu met German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and Bundestag Speaker Berbel Bas. They discussed the consolidation of economic cooperation between the countries and reforms in Moldova.
