The Director of the National Anti-corruption Center (NAC), Alexandr PInzari, met with Laura Codruta Kövesi, the Chief Prosecutor of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO), on Tuesday, November 26. During their discussions in Bucharest, the officials signed a Cooperation Agreement between the NAC and EPPO. According to the CNA, the agreement will enable both institutions to exchange information, expertise, and resources, enhancing their effectiveness in investigating and prosecuting cross-border crimes.
The document states that joint actions by these institutions will focus on cases related to corruption and fraud involving EU funds and on the recovery of criminal assets. It establishes a legal framework for the secure and efficient exchange of information, data, and evidence. ”This will greatly contribute to identifying complex criminal networks operating in the Republic of Moldova and EU member states,” the NAC leadership noted.
Additionally, the parties will strengthen their capacities through expertise exchange, with EPPO providing technical assistance, training, and best practices to bolster the NAC’s institutional ability to investigate corruption cases. The agreement ensures that resources from EU financial assistance and development funds are used transparently and effectively, representing a step forward in aligning with EU requirements on governance, the rule of law, and anti-corruption policy.

Such a partnership not only serves the interests of protecting the EU’s financial interests but also contributes to broader goals of transparency, accountability, and European integration,” said Alexandr Pinzari, the NAC Director, after signing the agreement.
It is worth noting that this week, a delegation from the National Anti-corruption Center is attending the 23rd annual EPAC/EACN conference in Bucharest, Romania, under the theme ”Together for Integrity.”
