The Constitutional Court has declared the result of the second round of the presidential elections in the Republic of Moldova valid. The authority validated Maia Sandu’s new mandate.
The court reached a final, unappealable decision after five hours of hearings.
Neither the President nor her opponent in the election, Alexandr Stoianoglo, were present at the Constitutional Court meeting where the ruling was approved.
Maia Sandu authorized lawyer Eduard Digore to represent her by signing a power of attorney. While Aleksandr Stoianoglo and his representatives did not confirm receiving the meeting notices, several PSRM members appeared at the High Court and requested to attend the trial. The judges did not grant their request.
