Today, a Brussels delegation visited Energocom, the company responsible for procuring energy resources for citizens on both banks of the Dniester using a 30-million-euro grant from the European Union.
Head of the Directorate-General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR) Gert Jan Koopman and Director of the Energy Community Secretariat Arthur Lorkowski led the delegation.
The European delegation asked where Energocom purchased gas in the initial days after receiving support, what challenges it faces in supplying gas and electricity, and what solutions could overcome the crisis.
The European Union allocated Moldova a 30-million-euro grant to purchase energy resources for consumers on both the left and right banks of the Dniester. Of this amount, 20 million euros will go toward gas for the left bank, while 10 million euros will fund electricity for consumers on the right bank. Energocom manages both processes.

On February 1, the Emergency Situations Commission approved measures to utilize the EU’s 30-million-euro grant to support citizens on both sides of the Dniester.
According to the commission’s decision, Energocom will purchase 20 million euros of natural gas from authorized trading platforms in the European Union and Ukraine under market conditions. Energocom will then ensure gas transmission according to a delivery schedule agreed upon with Tiraspoltransgaz, ensuring daily energy units do not exceed 3 million cubic meters converted to MWh.
Energocom will also purchase 10 million euros worth of electricity for the right bank of the Dniester from authorized trading platforms in the European Union and Ukraine.
