During her visit to Germany, President Maia Sandu met with President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to discuss bilateral cooperation and Moldova’s European path. She thanked her counterpart for participating in the Reinhard Mohn Prize award ceremony and for his strong message of support for the Moldovan people.
’’The world recognizes and supports our resilience, courage, and determination to follow the European path. Germany remains one of Moldova’s strongest allies and has stood by us during crucial moments,’’ Sandu stated.
The two leaders discussed economic cooperation and Germany’s continued support for Moldova’s EU accession. Germany has recently reinforced its commitment by providing €33 million in non-refundable assistance to help Moldovans cope with the energy crisis triggered by the Kremlin.

While in Germany, Sandu also met with North Rhine-Westphalia’s Prime Minister, Hendrik Wüst, to explore ways to strengthen economic cooperation, attract investments, and create new opportunities for Moldovan citizens. As one of Germany’s most developed economic hubs, North Rhine-Westphalia offers valuable prospects for expanding trade and investment.
Moldova continues to deepen its partnership with Germany—a key ally in European integration and economic development.
