The United States of America will offer support to the Republic of Moldova in the process of reforming the field of justice. The Ministry of Justice signed a memorandum of understanding with the US Embassy in Chisinau in this regard.
According to the document, the collaboration provides for the consultation of a Superior Counselor in Justice of the Embassy. The support provided will aim to implement justice priorities and facilitate the provision of technical assistance, training and expertise from the US.
“I met Mr. Richard Nephew, Global Anti-Corruption Coordinator at the US State Department, who honored us with a visit to the Department of Justice, along with the US Ambassador, H.S. Kent. D. Logsdon. First of all, I thanked the US Government for its support and all the support it provided for the reform of the justice system and the fight against corruption. I also briefed Mr. Nephew on the reforms launched by the Ministry of Justice: pre-vetting, reforming the Supreme Court of Justice, extraordinary evaluation of judges and prosecutors, amending the legislative framework to unlock certain processes that would facilitate the completion of cases, punishment guilty persons and the confiscation of assets obtained through acts of corruption”, said the Minister of Justice, Sergiu Litvinenko.

“I expressed my conviction that we will be able to count on constructive collaboration with the USA and its institutions in carrying out actions aimed at cleaning the justice system, strengthening legal institutions and strengthening the rule of law”, added him.
