“Our country is a peaceful and neutral state. We reject the threats expressed by the Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mikhail Galuzin, launched on Christmas Eve”. It is the comment of the Public Diplomacy, Strategic Communication and Press Interaction Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MAEIE), after Mihail Galuzin, also known as the right-hand man of the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, declared that “intensification of cooperation between Moldova and NATO undermines security”, warning that Chisinau risks “repeating the sad experience of Kyiv”.
“The intensification of cooperation between Chisinau and NATO countries in the military and the military-technical sphere is a factor that undermines the security of Moldova to a greater extent. As experience shows, recklessly pumping a country with Western weapons or deploying NATO contingents on its territory does not give it security at all, but, on the contrary, brings it closer to catastrophe”, are the statements of Mihail Galuzin.

In the MAEIE comment sent by the spokesperson Daniel Vodă on Saturday evening, December 24, it is stated that “all our external cooperation in the field of security and defense is based on three essential things”.
- Neutrality does not mean self-isolation, demilitarization, or indifference to what is happening in the world;
- We are interested in strengthening our resilience, including through NATO, the strongest political-military alliance in the world. Our cooperation with the organization is transparent and based on a well-known framework, including the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) for the years 2022-2023, the Assistance Package for strengthening our country’s security and defense capabilities, the Professional Development Program, the Science for Peace and Security and others;
- In the international arena, we live in a difficult region, affected by Russia’s brutal aggression against Ukraine, which has dramatic consequences for our country. We need all the solidarity of our friends to overcome the multiple hybrid challenges we face.
“We are a free country and it is our decision how to develop our country”, concluded Daniel Vodă.
