Nicu Popescu, the Deputy Prime Minister of Moldova and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration met with the NATO Deputy Secretary-General, Mircea Geoană, during the Black Sea Security Conference. The two officials discussed regional security issues, particularly in the context of the ongoing conflict in the region.
During the meeting, Popescu reiterated Moldova’s strong support for the territorial integrity of Ukraine and the need to enhance security in Europe. He also emphasized that Moldova’s neutrality does not mean isolation, and the country aims to become a stabilizing factor in the region. Popescu highlighted the importance of investing in security and defense to achieve this goal.
“Additionally, we expressed the commitment of the Republic of Moldova to strengthen global security through participation in EU civilian missions,” Popescu stated.

Mircea Geoană, on the other hand, reaffirmed NATO’s commitment to deepening its partnership with Moldova and supporting the country’s reform agenda.
