A charity auction raised over 20 thousand lei from the sale of a brooch belonging to Maia Sandu

The brooch, which was gifted to Maia Sandu by the President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, was sold at a charity auction for 20,500 lei. The starting price for the brooch was 6,000 lei. On Thursday, April 4th, during the „TransFORMARE” event in Chisinau, the aim was to assist women affected by domestic violence in achieving financial independence.

The competition for the brooch was intense due to the multiple contenders. The identity of the winner has not been disclosed yet.

“The brooch was donated by the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu. The brooch is a classic piece of jewellery that resembles a crown, symbolising power, elegance, tradition, and prosperity. It is made of silver, gold-plated, and decorated with emerald and pearls. The President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, presented it during an official visit to Chisinau in 2023,” the event organisers said.

The funds raised from the charity auction, in addition to guest donations, will be allocated to women who are taking part in the Personal Development Program. This program was developed by CDF in collaboration with psychotherapists and career mentors.

The programme aims to develop the skills and competencies required for women to achieve financial autonomy and independence. Last year, the pilot version of the Programme had 15 beneficiaries. For a month, participants engaged in exercises and activities focused on self-awareness, harmonious relationships, stress management, goal setting, conflict resolution, and assertive communication.
