A Moldovan athlete won the gold medal at the Balkan Indoor Athletics Meeting

Alexandru Mazur became champion in the shot put at the Balkan Athletics Indoor Championships for athletes under the age of 20. The Moldovan athlete achieved a distance of 20.00 meters at the competition hosted by the city of Belgrade, Serbia, setting a new national record in this age category. The Ministry of Education and Research made this announcement.

The ministry stated that Alexandru Mazur will represent our country at the U-20 World Championship in Lima, Peru at the end of August.

At the end of January, Alexandru Mazur became the national champion among juniors, with a result of 19.34 meters. Another representative of the Republic of Moldova at this competition, Dumitru Maruseac, placed 4th in the same event with a result of 17.34 meters.

Thanks to the financial support of the Ministry of Education and Research, our athletes were able to participate in the Balkan Countries Indoor Championships, which are exclusively for athletes under 20.
