A new joint session of Moldovan and Romanian parliaments

The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and that of Romania are to meet in a new joint session. This aspect was discussed today, August 1, by the President of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, with the new ambassador of Romania, Cristian-Leon Čšurcanu.

Another aspect discussed by the two officials was the energy crisis and the difficult geopolitical situation, which has severely affected the entire region.

“I welcomed the new ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Moldova, Cristian-Leon Čšurcanu. I spoke with His Excellency about the energy crisis and the difficult geopolitical situation, which has severely affected the entire region, and I thanked him on behalf of our people for the constant support provided by Romania, especially for cooperation in the field of energy security. We also discussed the organization of the second joint meeting of the Parliaments of the Republic of Moldova and Romania, in which we will focus on concrete and tangible projects, which we will promptly implement”, wrote Grosu on a social network.

At the same time, the President of the Parliament told the ambassador that “the Republic of Moldova will rely on Romania’s experience in the process of harmonizing our legislation with the EU acquis”.

“I reiterated the fact that we will need Romania’s experience and help in the process of harmonizing the legislation of the Republic of Moldova with the EU acquis. We greatly appreciate the essential contribution that Romania had in our process of obtaining the status of a candidate country for EU accession. I am sure that Mr. Ambassador Čšurcanu will have a prodigious mandate in Chisinau and I assured him of all the support in strengthening the bilateral relationship of our countries”, concluded Grosu.

We specify that, last week, the new ambassador of Bucharest in Chisinau presented the letters of accreditation to the president of the country, Maia Sandu.

We remind you that the first joint meeting of the two Parliaments on both banks of the Prut took place in Chisinau, on June 18.
