A tourism giant from Romania is expanding its empire into the Republic of Moldova

Karpaten Travel Agency, one of the largest tour operators in Romania, is taking a significant step towards internationalization by opening offices in the Republic of Moldova and Switzerland. The new expansion includes physical agencies, an online platform, and a B2B distribution network, a model already established in Romania.

“We are expanding into the Republic of Moldova and Switzerland following the same model as in Romania, and the offices are already open. We plan to begin operations in the second half of the year,” said Alexandru Marginean, a shareholder of the group and son of founder Gheorghe Marginean.

The decision to enter the Swiss market was influenced by the country’s political and economic stability and less competition in the outgoing market compared to other Western European countries such as Germany or France. In the Republic of Moldova, the agency aims to capitalize on the opportunities of the emerging local market, notes profit.ro.
