The facilitation of UN Women’s activities in the Republic of Moldova took a significant step forward as members of the Parliamentary Commission for Foreign Policy and European Integration endorsed the initiation of negotiations and the approval of an agreement between the Moldovan Government and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women).
This approval signifies the establishment of a crucial legal framework aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of UN Women’s initiatives in Moldova. The forthcoming agreement is designed to support the implementation of the Government’s policies and commitments, both domestically and internationally, in areas such as gender equality, women’s economic empowerment, and the prevention and combatting of gender-based violence and domestic violence.
As a United Nations agency dedicated to advancing global gender equality and empowerment of women, UN Women plays a pivotal role in supporting the efforts of UN Member States. The organization collaborates closely with governments and civil society to develop comprehensive laws, policies, programs, and services that align with global standards for gender equality. This agreement underscores a commitment to fostering positive change and advancing the cause of gender equality within Moldova.
