An EU civilian mission will arrive in Moldova: to counter the threats of the Russian Federation

The European Council approved the dispatch of a civilian mission to Moldova. It is planned that the mission will have a mandate of two years.

This was announced by the head of EU diplomacy Josep Borrell on April 24.

The operational headquarters of the mission will be located in Moldova. Stefano Tomato, Head of Civil Planning and Conduct of the European External Action Service, has been appointed Mission Commander, with the head of mission to be appointed at a later date. The mission will focus on strengthening cybersecurity and combating disinformation.

Earlier, Moldova asked the EU leadership for a similar civilian mission.
