A new loan for Moldova. It is about 100 million eur, intended for road repair

The European Investment Bank (EIB) will offer our country an additional loan worth 100 million euros. At today’s meeting, the members of the Foreign Policy and European Integration Commission approved the advisory opinion for the initiation of negotiations and the approval of the signing of the financing contract between the Republic of Moldova and the EIB for the completion and further implementation of the “Moldova roads III” project.

The granting of the loan of 100 million euros stems from the context of the increase in the prices of construction materials, caused by the existing regional crisis. The money will be spent both for the completion of the works initiated within the project and for the repair and construction of national road networks:

  • Rehabilitation of the road R34 HînceÈ™ti – Leova – Cahul – GiurgiuleÈ™ti, sector III, Cantemir – Cahul (km 82 – km 125);
  • M3 Chisinau – Comrat – GiurgiuleÈ™ti – border with Romania, construction of the bypass sector of the city of CimiÈ™lia (km 0 – km 7).
  • It should be noted that, in 2013, our country signed a financing contract with the European Investment Bank, which provided for the granting of a loan in the amount of 150 million euros for the realization of the “Moldova roads III” project.
