At the Diplomatic Forum in Antalya, the Moldovan Foreign Minister held meetings with colleagues from Turkey, Luxembourg, Montenegro and Azerbaijan

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mihai Popsoi, engaged in a series of productive meetings on the second day of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, holding discussions with counterparts from Turkey, Luxembourg, Montenegro, and Azerbaijan.

The deliberations with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan marked a significant progression from earlier negotiations initiated at the Munich Security Conference, focusing on deepening Moldovan-Turkish cooperation.

“We exchanged perspectives on regional matters, and I extended an invitation to my counterpart to visit Moldova. We reached a mutual understanding to capitalise on the economic ties between Moldova and Turkey,” stated Mihai Popsoi.

During the dialogue with Luxembourg’s Foreign Minister Xavier Bettel, the assessment of the current state of bilateral relations took precedence, alongside identifying opportunities for cooperation in mutually beneficial areas.

“We also discussed Moldova’s reform efforts in the context of its EU accession aspirations,” added the Moldovan official.

Conversations with Montenegro’s Foreign Minister Filip Ivanović centred on enhancing commercial and economic ties between the two nations, with a focus on exploring prospects for collaboration in the tourism sector, given Montenegro’s allure as a tourist destination.

The meeting with Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov provided an opportunity to evaluate current relations and prospects between Moldova and Azerbaijan.

“I expressed Moldova’s interest in collaborating with Azerbaijan in the energy, trade, economic, and investment sectors and conveyed gratitude for the invitation to visit Azerbaijan,” Minister Popsoi remarked.

These discussions mark significant strides in strengthening Moldova’s foreign relations, underscoring the country’s steadfast dedication to international cooperation and bilateral advancement.
