Authorities will Provide Over 70 Generators and 350 Tablets to Support Crisis-Hit Educational Institutions

The authorities will provide over 70 electric generators and 350 tablets to educational institutions in the Security Zone and the Transnistrian region, both affected by the energy crisis. The Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE) made this decision.

The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) will utilize the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism to request international assistance. Educational and social institutions in areas at risk of disconnection from electricity and gas supplies will receive 72 electric generators.

The Ministry of Education and Research (MEC) will distribute 350 tablets to nine educational institutions to ensure the continuity of education. These devices will also reach Latin-script schools in the Transnistrian region and the Security Zone.

To support enterprises and communities in agriculture, forestry, fishery, and the processing industry, the government has introduced a mechanism to partially compensate for increased electricity costs. This measure aims to reduce the financial burden on institutions and residents caused by rising regulated energy prices.

Following the CSE decision on January 6, 2025, IGSU delivered electric generators to critical institutions, including the Romanita Kindergarten, Varnita Theoretical Lyceum, Asclepio Multifunctional Community Centre, and the Varnita mayoralty in the Anenii Noi district. Additionally, IGSU provided generators to the Garofita Kindergarten and crèche and the water supply system in the Cocieri settlement, Dubasari district.

To ensure the continued operation of public institutions and services in Varnita and Cocieri, the government allocated 233,000 lei from its intervention fund for material purchases. The Varnita Village Council will receive 152,000 lei to buy 12 tons of pellets and over 4,000 liters of diesel for generators. Meanwhile, the Cocieri Commune Council will receive 81,000 lei to purchase two electric boilers and nearly 3,700 liters of diesel.

The Infantry Battalion No. 1 of the Peacekeeping Forces in Cocieri also transported diesel at no cost to the Placement Centre for Elderly People and People with Disabilities in the settlement.
