Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Belgium, Luxembourg, and NATO, Viorel Cibotaru, gave an interview to the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after the meeting of ambassadors in Chișinău. According to the diplomat, Belgium shows a growing interest in our country and is planning to open an embassy in Chișinău as well.
“Belgium has made a historic decision for both us and them by opening an embassy in our country. This reflects a growing and focused interest on the part of the Kingdom of Belgium, including Luxembourg, which has also appointed an official ambassador. Adding to this, the recent opening of the Embassy of the Netherlands, we witness a triple shift in attitude, which is a significant factor in our European integration journey. We are viewed with a lot of sympathy and empathy. The successes achieved by the Republic of Moldova in dealing with recent crises—energy, refugees, economic, social, and military—have allowed us to break away from negative patterns and step into a positive image,” mentioned Viorel Cibotaru.
We remind that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MFAEI) organized the meeting of the ambassadors of the Republic of Moldova from August 16th to 17th, 2023.
The event aimed to examine matters related to the implementation of the foreign policy of the Republic of Moldova and establish new tasks and priorities for the short and medium term, as well as to assess the activities of diplomatic missions and enhance their efficiency. During the meeting, issues related to the recent developments in international relations were also discussed, including the progress of the Republic of Moldova in the process of joining the European Union, as reported by representatives of the MFAEI.
