By the end of 2023, Moldova will be ready to start negotiations on joining the European Union. Our country has yet to convince the EU that all the recommendations of the European Commission have been implemented, although there is still room for improvement in justice. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu.
“Our goal is to convince the European Commission and every state of the European Union before the end of this year that Moldova deserves to start EU accession negotiations. In terms of timing, the main stages of this process fall in October, when the European Commission will publish a report on the implementation of our country’s recommendations, in which it will assess our progress.”
The head of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, arriving at the summit of the European Political Community in Bulboaca, said that negotiations on Moldova’s accession to the EU should begin this year.
On Thursday, 1 June, some 50 European leaders met at the EPC Summit in Bulboaca. They reaffirmed their support for the European aspirations of Moldova and Ukraine and discussed issues of security, energy, and stability in the world.
