PAS candidate Maia Sandu was re-elected for a second presidential term following the November 3, 2024, presidential elections. After all votes from Chisinau municipality were processed, it became clear that the capital’s residents granted their vote of confidence to the incumbent president. Sandu received 57.38% of the votes, while socialist Stoianoglo garnered 42.62%.
A total of 375,555 citizens cast their votes. Sandu won in the Centru, Buiucani, Riscani, and Ciocana sectors, while Stoianoglo led in Botanica.
Here is the voting breakdown by sector in Chisinau municipality:
– Buiucani Sector: Maia Sandu – 58.37% (32,263), Alexandr Stoianoglo – 41.63% (23,007)
– Riscani Sector: Maia Sandu – 52.86% (37,544), Alexandr Stoianoglo – 47.14% (33,476)
– Centru Sector: Maia Sandu – 58.47% (28,028), Alexandr Stoianoglo – 41.53% (19,911)
– Botanica Sector: Alexandr Stoianoglo – 50.83% (38,626), Maia Sandu – 49.17% (37,368)
– Ciocana Sector: Maia Sandu – 58.67% (31,935), Alexandr Stoianoglo – 41.33% (22,492)
After processing 60 vote tallies in the suburbs of the capital, Maia Sandu secured 68.20% of the votes, while Alexandr Stoianoglo received 31.80% of the total votes.

It is worth noting that in the first round of the presidential elections, Alexandr Stoianoglo had the highest number of votes in the Botanica sector. In contrast, PAS candidate Maia Sandu led in the other divisions and suburbs.
On Sunday, the Republic of Moldova held the second round of presidential elections. PAS candidate Maia Sandu won a new presidential mandate after 99.86% of the votes were counted. Nearly all the vote tallies have been processed, with the results as follows: Maia Sandu—55.41%, Alexandr Stoianoglo—44.59%. Only three vote tallies remain to be processed in the diaspora to complete the final count.
