Cristina Frolov, President of the Constantin Mimi Foundation: “We need to return to our roots and invest in rural areas”

The Constantin Mimi Foundation promotes social, charitable, and rural tourism development projects, says President Cristina Frolov in a video published on the foundation’s platforms. Each participant at the VinOpera International Classical Music Festival financially contributes to the development of village infrastructure by purchasing a festival ticket.

“Since 2016, together with my family and team, we decided it was time to get involved in activities that would develop the area around Mimi Castle. Our activities focus on creating projects for children with disabilities or those who are vulnerable. Of course, we are interested in promoting cultural diversity and social inclusion,” says Cristina Frolov, President of the Constantin Mimi Foundation.

The Constantin Mimi Foundation organizes one of the most significant cultural projects annually, the VinOpera International Classical Music Festival. This unique event in the Republic of Moldova has reached its seventh edition this year. VinOpera is the first sustainable festival in our country, promoting the importance of investments in rural areas and achieving international recognition.

“VinOpera ranks among the top 5 most beautiful enogastronomic events worldwide, an award we received at the Wine Travel Awards. VinOpera was named the best enogastronomic event of 2022 in a competition organized by ITER VITIS, representing the cultural routes of the Council of Europe. All the awards we have received demonstrate that it is possible. Things of international acclaim can happen in Moldova,” proudly states Cristina Frolov.

VinOpera 2024 will expand for the second year in a row, offering three concerts at three locations. The Castel Mimi Wine Resort will host the Gala event on September 6. Renowned artists, including Elena Mosuc—named Best Soprano in the World in 2019—will perform with the National Opera and Ballet Theatre Orchestra “Maria Biesu,” led by conductor Dumitru Carciumaru.

The program will also include two free concerts in the villages of Telita and Bulboaca. The National Philharmonic Orchestra “Serghei Lunchevici,” conducted by Mihail Agafita, will perform at these events.

“These concerts aim primarily to showcase to the world how attractive and valued these villages are and to demonstrate the need to invest, return to our roots, and focus on developing rural infrastructure,” says Cristina Frolov, President of the Constantin Mimi Foundation.

By organizing the VinOpera International Classical Music Festival, we are developing the tourist route around the Castel Mimi Wine Resort. Each guest who attends the Gala concert and purchases a ticket supports this project of the Constantin Mimi Foundation.

“Each guest who chooses to spend the evening with us at Castel Mimi, even without knowing it or being informed, will already contribute to the development and initiation of these rural tourism projects, which will ultimately aid in the economic development of the communities around Castel Mimi,” says Cristina Frolov.
