Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov stated that the Republic of Moldova must maintain in 2026 the pace of reforms achieved in 2025 in order to advance in its accession process to the European Union.
“This year it is important to move forward at least at the same speed as in 2025, to focus on reforms that strengthen our democracy and peace, modernize the state, bring European standards to our communities, and build a truly European Moldova,” the official said.
She made the statements after a two-day working visit to Brussels on April 14–15, where she discussed ongoing reforms and the next steps in the negotiation process with European officials.
During the visit, Gherasimov held talks with representatives of EU member states, including Iulia Matei (Romania), Philippe Léglise-Costa (France), Thomas Hans Ossowski (Germany), Nerijus Aleksiejunas (Lithuania), and Agnieszka Bartol (Poland).
She also met with Victor Negrescu, Vice-President of the European Parliament, as well as senior representatives of European institutions, including Ana Gallego, Maryem Van den Heuvel, Oliver Onidi, Audronė Perkauskienė, and Pedro Lourtie.
