Several members of Moldova’s current government have commented on whether they would like to remain in office if Prime Minister-designate Vasile Tofan forms a new Cabinet.

Culture Minister Cristian Jardan said he would like to continue the projects he has started but stressed that he is not attached to the position.

“It was a very good discussion. I saw that he is determined, and I liked his approach. He is very structured and is not interested in generalities, but in as many details as possible. It is his decision, and I want him to succeed. I would like to continue the things we have started, but I am not holding on to this position at all costs,” Jardan said.

Education Minister Dan Perciun also said he would like to continue the work initiated at the ministry.

“We had a very, very good discussion. I would like to continue the things we have started,” Perciun said.

Environment Minister Gheorghe Hajder confirmed that he had held talks with the prime minister-designate but did not provide further details.

Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatîi said he does not know whether he will keep his position in the future government, while Health Minister said he had already discussed the matter with Tofan but avoided giving a clear answer on whether he wants to continue leading the ministry.

Vasile Tofan, nominated by President Maia Sandu for the position of prime minister, could announce the composition of his government team on Friday. The new Cabinet will need to receive a vote of confidence from Parliament before taking office.
