Daniel Voda: “On the right bank, we have light and gas”

Moldova began the new year with sufficient electricity and gas for all citizens on the right bank of the Dniester. Electricity consumption was fully covered through the joint efforts of authorities and diversified sources, including imports from Romania. The government spokesman Daniel Voda announced it.

Termoelectrica and CET-Nord operate at full capacity without incidents, ensuring citizens’ comfort during this cold period. Gas stocks are adequate to meet needs throughout the winter.

“The Transnistrian region faces a difficult situation after Tiraspoltransgaz halted supplies of natural gas and thermal energy, affecting localities and public institutions on both banks of the Dniester. Chisinau supports the people on the left bank and works to find alternative solutions. We express solidarity with those affected. Russian blackmail in the Transnistrian region must end. On the right bank, we have light and gas. Let us remain confident,” Voda stated.

Energocom also announced today that it had already secured electricity supplies for January 2.

Meanwhile, Gazprom suspended natural gas deliveries to Moldovagaz on January 1, 2025, at 8:00 AM Moscow time. In response to the potential humanitarian crisis in the Transnistrian region caused by the Russian Federation’s breach of its natural gas supply contract for consumers on the left bank of the Dniester, the Republic of Moldova has been in a state of emergency since December 16, 2024.
