Authorities have extended temporary protection for Ukrainian refugees for another year. The documents allowing them to work, study, and live in the Republic of Moldova will remain valid until March 1, 2026.
Cabinet members approved the decision. Authorities say this measure will prevent overburdening the asylum system and reduce risks associated with illegal migration.

“Through this initiative, Moldova demonstrates stability and responsibility in managing humanitarian crises, aligning with European values and strengthening its European path,” said Minister of Internal Affairs Daniella Misail-Nichitin, as quoted by IPN.
Since March 1, 2023, over 87,000 people have applied for temporary protection in the Republic of Moldova.
